The first reactions from critics for Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power have been rolling out on social media, and everyone who has watched the first two episodes seems to love it. It’s being praised as a “cinematic masterpiece.”

I wasn’t given the opportunity to watch the first two episodes myself, but reading everyone else’s reactions to the show is getting me even more pumped up for what this series is going to deliver! I’ve already been excited about the show, but seeing all of these glowing reviews is really awesome. I just hope that the series actually lives up to the hype.

Here’s what some people are saying about the show. Read through the reactions and let us know what you think!

The series is set to premiere on Prime Video on September 2, 2022.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power “is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien's pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.”

The cast for the series includes Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Robert Aramayo as Elrond, Owain Arthur as Prince Durin IV, Ismael Cruz Córdova as Arondir, Nazanin Boniadi as Bronwyn, Charles Edwards as Celebrimbor, Sophia Nomvete as Princess Disa, Ema Horvath as Eärien, Lloyd Owen as Elendil, Benjamin Walker as High King Gil-galad, Charlie Vickers as Halbrand, Maxim Baldry as Isildur, Leon Wadham as Kemen, Dylan Smith as Largo Brandyfoot, Sara Zwangobani as Marigold Brandyfoot, Markella Kavenagh as Elanor ‘Nori’ Brandyfoot, Trystan Gravelle is Pharazôn, Megan Richards as Poppy Proudfellow, Sir Lenny Henry as Sadoc Burrows, Tyroe Muhafidin as Theo, Daniel Weyman as The Stranger, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson is Queen Regent Míriel.
