The first two episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power dropped last week and it’s a freakin’ beautiful show! I posted a review of it last week, and the trolls were out in full force tearing the series down. The hate just made me laugh and also kinda sad that some people aren’t willing to enjoy and appreciate great storytelling.

I’ve watched the first two episodes three times already, and each time has been a wonderful viewing experience. It’s a simply stunning series and is shaping up to be one of the best fantasy shows that has ever been made.

But, the trolls are out there doing their thing, trying to take down and hurt something beautiful. All I can say is don’t listen to the hate. Watch the show and judge for yourself.

In an effort to combat the trolls, Amazon has introduced a new weapon… delays. Around the time that Amazon released its A League of Their Own series, they quietly introduced a new 72-hour delay for all user reviews posted to Prime Video. It’s explained that each “critique is then evaluated to determine whether it’s genuine or a forgery created by a bot, troll or other breed of digital goblin.”

If there are people that genuinely don’t like this show and seriously think that it’s as bad as they say it is, it makes me worry that people have lost touch with what a great, beautifully told story actually looks like. It also makes me sad that they can’t enjoy a thing of pure greatness like this.

I’ve also noticed that some websites are turning off their comment sections on their Rings of Power articles. I’m not going to do that here on GeekTyrant. So, I’m sure they’ll continue to flood our comments. I’m sure there will be some commenting on this post telling you how awful the series is. But don’t buy into it.

I’ve been a fan of Tolkien’s work since I was a kid and I’ve been waiting for something like this to come around for a long time. It’s here, and it’s amazing!
