Watchmen series created Damon Lindelof is developing a new Star Wars film for Lucasfilm and it will be helmed by Ms. Marvel director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Lindelof is co-writing the film, but there’s no information on who he’s writing it with. I can only hope that it’s Dave Filoni.
The news comes from Deadline who say the “script is still being written which means production is likely far out.” An inside source added it “was important to Lucasfilm and Lindelof that a director be brought on so that person’s own vision for where they see this story headed gets included in the script.”
As for the story that the movie will tell, those details are obviously being kept under wraps. The film is in early development, which means it will be a while before it’s released. Hell, there’s a chance we may never see it get made! Lucasfilm is still trying to figure out its Star Wars movie plans!
Over the years there have been several Star Wars films announced, there are multiple projects in development, and a few of them are stalled and not moving forward, So, who knows what’s going to happen with these Star Wars films! One day a new Star Wars film will actually get made, we’ll just have to wait and see what it turns out to be.
It’s so crazy that Lucasfilm hasn’t quite figured this out yet. Lindelof is a solid screenwriter, though, so it’ll be interesting to see what he comes up with. What do you think?
