Disney has built itself quite the entertainment empire over the years and now it is a force to be reckoned with. Disney Studios owns Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Disney+, 20th Century Studios, and Hulu. Some of you will be happy to learn that the studio is done buying everything, and they have no plans to purchase any more studios or networks.
This bit of information comes from Disney Studios CEO Bob Chapek himself during the Wall Street Journal Tech Live 2022 conference, which took place recently. He said:
"We have the best creative teams, the best brands and franchises in the world. We're quite happy to have the output level across our channels without having to be a buyer in the open marketplace."
So, they have finally admitted that they have everything they need to rule the world. Chapek went on to say that their “plan is to have all our content creation self-contained.” So they will now focus on developing projects within the entities they already own.
The Disney CEO was asked about some consumers that feel Disney is “too woke.” Chapek replied, “We want to reflect the world we live in — the world is a rich, diverse place and we want our content to reflect that. That’s good from a commercial standpoint as well, because you appeal to the largest possible base. We want Disney to stand for bringing people together.”
So there you have it. Disney is feeling comfortable and confident in its current direction. But who knows, at some point, they may end up looking to start buying again!
