A few weeks ago we learned that Marvel had cast Harrison Ford in the role of General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross in Marvel’s Thunderbolts, replacing the late William Hurt. Marvel Studios wanted to make the big announcement at D23 Expo, but Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy shut that down so it didn’t take the attention away from Indiana Jones 5.
It was initially revealed that Ford being recast was a "done deal,” and Marvel “actually wanted to announce him as a cast member in Thunderbolts at D23. But they didn't because Kathleen Kennedy put her foot down and said, 'No, we're going to keep the focus on Indiana Jones 5.'"
Well, for those of you looking for additional confirmation of Ford’s casting, /Film can now “independently confirm” that this news “is in fact true. The role of Thaddeus Ross will be recast with — yep, you're reading this correctly — Harrison Ford.” So, if that makes you happy!
The rest of the Thunderbolts team consists of Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, Julie Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and of course, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, and David Harbour as Red Guardian.
The movie is being helmed by Jake Schreier, and I’m excited to see Harrison Ford in the role of General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross!
Thunderbolts is set to premiere on July 26th, 2023.
