Don’t let the title of Halloween Ends fool you. While this next Halloween movie may be the final film in the franchise, Laurie Strode actress Jamie Lee Curtis won’t say that she’ll never make another Halloween movie again.
The actress recently sat down with SFX for an interview and said that it would be “stupid” to say that she’d never make another Halloween movie again. When asked about the possibility, she explained:
"I was sitting in the exact place I am sitting right now when my phone rang, and it was Jake Gyllenhaal. I picked up the phone and he said, 'Hey Jame, my friend David Gordon Green' – who he had just worked with on the movie Stronger – 'would like to talk to you about a Halloween movie.' That was in 2017, in the summer. The last thing I thought five years ago that I would be doing would be a Halloween movie.
"And here I am, [laughs], having now completed three of them with a fantastic creative group of people. That has not only been satisfying for me personally and creatively, but it has launched me creatively into a whole other world. I have a creative life now, because of the Halloween movie, and the success. I now have a partnership with Jason Blum at Blumhouse, I have a production company, I’ve written a horror film that I will direct, I am producing television series, I am buying books. All of that was the last thing I thought I would be doing five years ago. So to say never is stupid."
As for director David Gordon Green, he seems very aware that the franchise could continue after Halloween Ends.
"You can kill every character and still find a way to continue their stories. So as long as they’re successful, as Carpenter often speaks to – because he’s been the recipient of the successes and frustrations of those reinventions – stories will find ways to carry on, I’m certain."
Yeah, I think it’s safe to say that Halloween Ends won’t be the final film to be made in the Halloween franchise. I kind of wish it were, though. I’m ready for a proper and definitive conclusion to this story.
I’ve also included a new featurette for the movie titled “Jamie’s Journey,” which focuses on her journey as Laurie in the franchise. It starts off with Curtis saying: “Welcome back Laurie Strode. She gave it all, her heart, her soul, her blood. But that bubble burst because Michael comes back.”
The clip also offers shots of Jamie on the set of the film and says, “It will be difficult to say goodbye to Laurie Strode. It’s been an emotional movie for me, it has.” The question is… will she really say goodbye for good? We’ll just have to wait to see.
