Nintendo has recently acquired the visual content company Dynamo Pictures, and they have rebranded it as Nintendo Pictures. They also revealed a new logo and launched an official Japanese website.
Their plan is to produce “visual content based on Nintendo IP.” That content has not been specified, but I assume that means it will develop projects involving film, TV, comics, and more. The website also says they’ll provide motion capture recording services, which was a field Dynamo Pictures worked in.
Dynamo Pictures previously worked on projects such as Metroid Other M and the official Pikmin animated shorts from a few years ago. They also produced CG animation for anime like Yuri on Ice as well as movies like Earwig and the Witch.
Nintendo Pictures is currently made up of 105 employees but has plans to expand, with a recruitment drive set to start in November. It’ll be interesting to see what Nintendo Pictures ends up becoming and doing in the years to come.
