Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi tragically died while trying to rescue a woman, her 11-year-old daughter, and a U.S. soldier from drowning. This happened back on July 4th, and details surrounding his death are now being revealed.
Major Robert Bourgeau, 49, told the military newspaper Stars and Stripes that Takahashi tried to help rescue those who were caught in the riptide when he drowned. A spokesman for the Japan Coast Guard added that Takahashi's body was recovered 1,000 feet away from the shore of Awa, Nago.
Bourgeau also took action and was able to save the mother and child. As for the other soldier in the water, Bourgeau was able to help the soldier by yelling instructions on how to get out of the current and get to shallow waters.
It seems like it was quite a scary ordeal and it’s sad to learn that Takahashi wasn’t able to make it out alive. But, he is a hero. Bourgeau said: "He's a hero. He died trying to save someone else."
Takahashi was an incredibly talented individual, and he brought so much joy and entertainment to so many people. He’s left behind an incredible legacy, and he’ll always be remembered as a hero.
