Jason David Frank, one of the original stars of the classic 90s action series Power Rangers has died at the age of 49. According to reports, the actor and mixed martial artist died in Texas due to suicide. This is absolutely heartbreaking and hearing this news actually hurt. I met him at a convention once was a super nice guy!
Jason David Frank played my favorite character in Power Rangers, Tommy Oliver. He started out as the villainous Green Ranger in the first season. He ended up turning good, transforming into the White Ranger, and became the leader of the Power Rangers. Frank starred in the series for 3 seasons, totaling 123 episodes.
Frank also returned to the franchise several times over the years appearing in franchise shows such as Wild Force, Turbo, Zeo, Dino Thunder, Megaforce, Ninja Steel, HyperForce, and more.
I’ve been feeling a lot of emotions regarding this. As someone who deals with depression and anxiety, I’ve had thoughts of suicide. I know life can get hard sometimes, I know that the thoughts in the head can bring a person down to super lows, and those thoughts can spiral out of control.
Please, please, please if you ever start spiraling with thoughts of suicide seek help. Talk to someone! The suicide and crisis lifeline is 988. It provides 24/7 free and confidential support for people who are in distress.
Jason David Frank is survived by his four children and my heart just breaks for them. Jason's rep Justine shared: "Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being. He loved his family, friends and fans very much. He will truly be missed."
Walter Jones, who played the Black Ranger said i a statement: "He was an inspiration to so many people. His presence will be dearly missed. It’s so sad to lose another member of our Ranger family. Jason was one of the biggest pranksters on the show. He had a wild sense of humor. We had our shares of ups and downs but I stayed consistent about being an ear if he needed one. My prayers go out to his family and all that will miss him."
Our thoughts, hearts, prayers go out to Frank’s family and friends.
