From his darkest fears comes the greatest adventure…
A24 has released the first trailer for the wildly unique movie Beau Is Afraid, which comes from Ari Aster, the director of the hardcore horror films Hereditary and Midsommar. This next film of his does have horror elements, but this also looks like a crazy epic nightmare-fueled adventure film.
The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix, and the story follows his character across multiple decades and in the process, it looks like he starts to lose his mind. The synopsis reads: “A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother in this bold and ingeniously depraved new film.”
Phoenix is joined in the film by Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Stephen Mckinley Henderson, Hayley Squires, Denis Ménochet, Kylie Rogers, Armen Nahapetian, Parker Posey, and Patti LuPone.
Aster previously described the film as a “nightmare comedy,” and it looks like that’s exactly what we’re going to get! This looks like a great movie and I’m excited to watch it! This is not what I was expecting from Aster on this film, but I’m in for the ride!
Beau Is Afraid will be released in theaters on April 21, 2023.
