Every time Keanu Reeves jumps into the role for a new John Wick movie, he trains and works his ass off to pull off those badass action sequences! For the upcoming film, John Wick: Chapter 4, Reeves trained for three months preparing to perform his stunts!
A new featurette was released for the film that offers some awesome insight on the making of the film, and Reeves revealed:
“It’s been about 12 weeks of training. It’s new levels of action. You know, nun-chucks, which was challenging…’ John Wick’ action asks just a little bit more. And you see the effort and the commitment from the team.”
One of the most intense and challenging stunts in the movie involved Reeves’ races around the historic Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France in a car. The actor had to learn how to do a reverse 180 and drift all while reloading his gun and shooting it out of the door. He previously said:
“For Chapter 4, we wanted to bring the muscle cars back. Have we gone too far? We took the car-driving to the next level, which I really enjoy. There’s 180s, forward-into-reverse 180s, reverse into-forward 270s, drifting… So it was really fun to get a chance to learn those skills, and to play.”
Reeves added:
John Wick: Chapter 4 has the most action of any of the [‘John Wick’] films, which is saying a lot. And it’s more by a good margin. It’s a big show… ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ was the hardest physical role I’ve ever had in my career so far. They really trained me up to be able to have what we call the toolbox.”
In John Wick: Chapter 4, Wick faces off with new enemies and reunites with old friends on his mission to destroy the villainous High Table once and for all.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is being helmed by Chad Stahelski, and the cast also includes Donnie Freakin’ Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Clancy Brown, Ian McShane, and Bill Skarsgard as the sinister main villain.
The movie is currently scheduled to open in theaters on May 27th, 2023.. Enjoy the featurette below! It’s packed with some new action-packed footage!
