As Star Wars fans are excitedly waiting for The Mandalorian Season 3 to drop on Disney+ next month, Jon Favreau has already finished writing Season 4! In an interview with French news channel BFMTV, Favreau confirmed this, saying:

“Season 4? Yeah, I’ve written it already. We have to know where we’re going to tell a fully-formed story. So we had mapped it out, Dave [Filoni] and I, and then slowly you just write each episode. So I was writing it during post-production. Because all of it has to feel like a continuation of the one full story.

He went on to expand on how the various Star Wars shows that are connected with The Mandalorian have to line up, as they tell one big story. He continued:

“And then he’s doing Ahsoka, which I’m producing with him, but he’s the writer/showrunner on that. And so to understand what’s happening on other shows or even Skeleton Crew … all take place in the same Star Wars time period. So there’s a lot more things that we have to keep in mind and stuff that we’ve built up to from previous seasons of The Mandalorian, as well.”

This is all exciting to hear! Jon Favreau and David Filoni are on top of it and they have created some awesome Star Wars content that the fans are loving! I hope they can manage to keep it up and continue to deliver these great Star Wars stories! Producer and director Rick Famuyiwa recently hyped up the third season promising that this will be the biggest and most ambitious season yet!

The upcoming third season sees the journey of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu continue as their adventure takes them to Mandalore where Mando hopes that he will be "forgiven for his transgressions." It also sees Mando stepping into a leadership position, and Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) dealing with the disappointment of not taking back the Darksaber.

The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.

Season 3’s directorial lineup includes returning filmmakers Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers, and Bryce Dallas Howard, along with Star Wars newcomers Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), and Black Panther cinematographer Rachel Morrison.

The Mandalorian Season 3 will debut on March 1st!
