When James Gunn initially announced that DC Studios would be developing a Batman: The Brave and the Bold movie with Bruce Wayne and his son Damian, he said that it would include other characters from the larger "Bat-family." The first character that I thought of when I heard that was Nightwing. It was pretty obvious to me then, but now it’s kinda been confirmed.
Over the weekend Gunn shared a list of ten characters and said that he has plans for five of them. Those characters included Nightwing, Martian Manhunter, Lobo, Brainiac, Deathstroke, Red Hood, Zatanna, The Court of Owls, Mister Freeze, and John Constantine.
After he shared that, Gunn responded to an article listing eight characters that should appear in the DCU franchise including Nightwing, Arsenal, Vixen, Terra, Kyle Rayner, Jon Kent, Static, and Cassandra Cain's Batgirl. Gunn’s response that saying that four of those characters are guaranteed to appear.
Nightwing is on both of the lists, so it’s safe to say we’ll see him in the DCU. As for what other characters on the lists will appear, that’s anyone’s guess! But, I hope at least some of them are Mister Freeze, Zatanna, Red Hood, Lobo, and Batgirl. As for the mention of John Constantine, the Keanu Reeves sequel is happening, and from what I understand that will be separate from what Gunn is doing much like what Matt Reeves is doing with The Batman and Todd Phillips is doing with the Joker. So, does this mean we could possibly see two different versions of John Constantine’s running around?
Which of these DC characters would you like to see introduced in Gunn’s DCU?
Would 4 of 8 do?
