J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle Earth stories are about to expand in some big and exciting ways with Warner Bros., and New Line telling stories that explore more of Middle Earth that “remains largely unexplored.” They are looking to “honor the past, look to the future, and adhere to the strongest level of quality and production values.”

Peter Jackson and his writing partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens have been in talks with the studio regarding the future of these Middle Earth films, which they want to turn into a Star Wars-like film franchise. The studio is making an effort to lock Jackson in, but so far no deal has been made.

If Jackson and his team do come on board, Gollum actor Andy Serkis wants to be a part of it! During a recent interview with BroBible's Post-Credit Podcast, the actor was asked about this big new plan for The Lord of the Rings and he said:

"Look, [producers] Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens are sort of a second family that I have become part of and have gone on to make so many films with. And -- let me tell you -- they are the best and most incredible people to work with. I think that there are so many other potential Middle-earth projects which could come about, and if they're doing them, I would, of course, jump at the chance to have that relationship rekindled ... Middle-earth has never left me."

I have no doubt that if Jackson is involved Serkis will be there right along with him. I really would love to see Jackson get involved with this because if he does it, he’s going to do it right. I know a lot of people might roll their eyes at that because of The Hobbit trilogy, but I don’t see him repeating that. I think he will take the time to properly develop these projects as he did with the first Lord of the Rings trilogy.

What are you hoping to see from these films?
