Lionsgate has released the trailer for an upcoming crime comedy thriller titled One Day as a Lion, which stars J.K. Simmons and Frank Grillo. Both of these actors tend to make fun projects, and this movie looks like it’ll deliver a good time!
The movie comes from filmmaker John Swab and Frank Grillo, and Swab is the guy who directed it. The movie also stars Scott Caan as Jackie Powers, “a nice guy but a lousy hitman sent to take out a crafty debtor only pisses him off.”
While fleeing the scene “Jackie takes bored waitress Lola as a hostage. Jackie needs money to get his son out of jail, so Lola cooks up a scheme for them to get cash from her dying mother. Meanwhile, a thug sent to kill him is sleeping with Jackie's ex.”
The movie also stars Virginia Madsen, Marianne Rendón, George Carroll, and Billy Blair. The movie has the same kind of witty vibe that you’d seen from Quentin Tarantino or the Coen Bros, only not as good as anything they’ve done.
Lionsgate will release Swab's One Day as a Lion in theaters on April 4th, 2023, then out on VOD starting April 7th.
