Qi'ra was introduced in the Star Wars universe in Solo: A Star Wars Story back in 2018, and the character was fantastically played by Emilia Clarke. Since her introduction, the character’s story has expanded in the Star Wars comics with War of the Bounty Hunters, Crimson Reign, and Star Wars: Hidden Empire, which just wrapped up with its final issue.

At the end of Solo, Qi'ra became the leader of Crimson Dawn, and in Hidden Empire, we learn that she's been using her supremacy and leverage within the organization to expand and penetrate various corners of the galaxy in an attempt to overthrow the Sith and the Empire once and for all.

Her big plan involved a relic called "Fermata Cage," a device, which was said to have the power to capture Sith and trap them in time. However, when she uses the device on Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine, it only works briefly and her plan fails completely, as Vader and Palpatine managed to escape.

Despite her failed attempt, Qi'ra ends up withdrawing from the Crimson Dawn organization and goes on to encourage others to do the same.

Hidden Empire features a character known as The Archivist telling the story of Qi'ra to Luke Skywalker and his sister Leia Organa, after the events of Return of the Jedi. They confirm that it was ultimately Crimson Dawn agents who alerted the Rebel Alliance to the construction of the Death Star II and that the Empire's focus on eradicating Crimson Dawn allowed the Rebellion to increase their ranks.

While some characters believed that Qi'ra would eventually be captured by the Empire, the story reveals that she survived the events of Return of the Jedi and witnessed the fall of the Empire. Having retreated into a life of isolation, Qi'ra finally found solace in the aftermath of her unsuccessful plot to overthrow Palpatine and Vader. It may have taken longer than she expected, but she was able to free herself from the heavy burden of guilt that had weighed on her for so long.

Star Wars: Hidden Empire #5 is on shelves now.
