Tubi has released a trailer for its new unscripted feature film titled Dead Hot. It follows Vanessa Hudgens as she takes a trip to Salem, Massachusetts with her friend GG Magree to explore the paranormal and witchcraft.
Hudgens and Magree are “self-taught students of witchcraft and have been experimenting and connecting with the spirit world for much of their lives. After a ghost hunt gone wrong, they realize they need to seek out proper mentorship and training. Together they embark on a pilgrimage to Salem, Massachusetts, with cameras chronicling their journey, for a masterclass in witchcraft.”
On their journey, they meet with well-respected local experts in witchcraft, and look for a deeper understanding of the supernatural. In the process, they have “unexpected personal revelations, including a more profound discovery of self identity, newfound self-love, empowerment and sisterhood.”
The documentary film has been described as “The Craft meets The Simple Life.” Tubi said in a statement: “Debuting at a time when witchcraft is undergoing a massive resurgence (#WitchTok amassing over 40 BILLION views to date), Dead Hot is set to enthrall audiences of all ages – from beginners to experienced witches alike. It’s a must watch!”
The film is said to be an “intimate journey into the supernatural realm,” as well as a “coming-of-age story that explores identity, feminine power and sisterhood.”
