New footage has released showing off part of Ghibli Park. The new video released by the staff shows off Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse area which recreates a scene from each of Studio Ghibli’s 13 iconic films. It looks really cool. There are also sets that recreate the dining scenes from films and fans will be delighted by posters, books, and more from the releases of the films. If that’s not enough, there will be a store with original themed goods and a café that includes the castella Siberia cake from The Wind Rises.

In addition, it was announced that all 10 Ghibli Forest Film anime shorts will be screened, one after another. The screenings will take place at the Cinema Orion theater in the Grand Warehouse. This is an especially nice treat as before, the shorts were exclusive to the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Tokyo. Here’s a list of the shorts:

  • 2001 "The Whale Hunt"

  • 2001 "Koro's Big Day Out"

  • 2002 "Mei and the Baby Cat Bus"

  • 2006 "House Hunting"

  • 2006 "The Day I Bought a Star"

  • 2006 "Mon Mon the Water Spider"

  • 2010 "A Sumo Wrestler's Tail"

  • 2010 "Mr. Dough and the Egg Princess"

  • 2011 "Treasure Hunting"

  • 2018 "Boro the Caterpillar"

Ghibli Park will open on November 1 with Ghibbli’s Grand Warehouse, Hill of Youth, and Dondoko Forest areas. Mononoke Village will open in the last half of 2023, and Witch Valley will open in March 2024. This park looks and sounds like so much fun. Will you be able to go visit?
