The team behind the R-rated Winnie the Pooh horror film, Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey, is developing another violent horror film based on a classic Disney animated character… Bambi. The new film is titled Bambi: The Reckoning, and it will turn the beloved deer into a "vicious killing machine.”

The film will tell the story of a deer who is out for blood following the murder of his mother. The film will be executive produced by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who directed Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey, and it will be helmed by Blood and Honey producer Scott Jeffrey, who told Dread Central:

"The film will be an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love. Finding inspiration from the design used in Netflix's The Ritual, Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness. Prepare for Bambi on rabies!"

On top of this, Frake-Waterfield's next planned movie is a horror film based on Peter Pan. He’s also reportedly developing a story centered on Loki, the Norse god of mischief. This movie-making team has found its niche, and there are definitely people out there who will watch these movies. It’s all silly to me, but the filmmaking team is obviously having fun making them.

The filmmakers can’t use any elements from Bambi that were introduced in the Disney animated film, including his character design. That’s ok, though, because any other deer character design will do.

What do you think about Bambi getting an R-rated horror revenge thriller?
