IFC Midnight and Shudder have released a trailer for an upcoming religious horror movie titled Consecration, and it looks like it could be a solid and creepy horror flick!
Consecration stars Jena Malone (Sucker Punch, The Ruins), Danny Huston (30 Days of Night, Yellowstone), and Janet Suzman. The film was directed by Christopher Smith (Triangle, Black Death, and The Banishing) from a script he co-wrote with Laurie Cook.
In the film, “After the suspicious death of her brother, a priest, Grace (Jena Malone) goes to the Mount Saviour Convent in Scotland to find out what really happened. Once there, she uncovers murder, sacrilege, and a disturbing truth about her own past.”
Smith talked about the project saying it’s “a film about the nature of religion and how defining one thing as divine creates a false opposite that is heretical. This film is an opportunity to take the audience on a thrilling journey into the dark unknown, and I want to really push that to the limit both in terms of scares and the psychology of the main characters. …I want Consecration to be the scariest yet.”
IFC Midnight will first release the film in theaters on February 10th, 2023, and will then come to Digital on March 3, 2023.
