Later this year, Marvel will be launching their tabletop RPG, Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game with the Core Rulebook. However, the team isn’t being shy about their plans for future content. For instance, we know that much later this year fans will be able to enjoy The Cataclysm of Kang and it was recently announced that an X-Men Expansion will be releasing in 2024!
The Core Rulebook will launch on August 2 with pre-orders now open from your favorite local game stores. Inside, players and game masters will find revamped rules based on fan responses to playtest material for a “fun, fast, and dynamic game[.]” You’ll find rules for quick character creation, bombastic combat, hundreds of powers, and even full profiles for famous Marvel heroes and villains. The only things you need in addition to the book are three six-sided dice and some friends.
After the Core Rulebook launches, fans will be able to add The Cataclysm of Kang to their libraries. This is an adventure book with new character profiles as well as a brief campaign of six interlocked adventures. These adventures can also be played as an anthology with different characters each time. The Cataclysm of Kang and Core Rulebook are written by Matt Forbeck (The Marvel Encyclopedia) with cover art by Iban Coello.
Then, in 2024, fans will be able to expand their games with mutants thanks to the X-Men Expansion. This will be the first full-sized sourcebook and brings dozens of new profiles for X-Force, New Mutants, and Marauders characters; full-color maps of famous locations like Krakoa and the Xavier Institute; and additional twists and turns for campaigns.
