Steven Spielberg has yet to choose his next film project, he can pretty much do whatever the hell he wants. Over the years he’s played around with several different kinds of genres, but one that he wants to jump back into is the horror genre!

Spielberg launched his career making films like Duel and Jaws. He later made Poltergeist, which is still an awesomely terrifying movie! While he was credited as a producer on the film, he also directed big chunks of it with Tobe Hooper.

While accepting a lifetime achievement award at the Berlin International Film Festival, Spielberg reflected on his past and teased that he’s interested in "scaring the sh*t" out of audiences with a new horror movie. The filmmaker is definitely showing no signs of slowing down. He said:

"I feel a little alarmed to be told I've lived a lifetime because I'm not finished. I want to keep working. I want to keep learning and discovering and scaring the sht out of myself and sometimes the sht out of you. I gotta get back to some of those earlier scary movies but that's another story for later on."

I don’t know what Spielberg is doing next, but I would love to see him direct another horror movie! He was previously developing a horror series a few years ago for the failed Quibi streaming service titled Spielberg’s After Dark. Spielberg even wrote the series, and it was one I was looking forward to as he called it “super scary.” Maybe he should just adapt that into a feature film!

If he doesn’t make a horror movie, one genre I’d love to see him play with that he hasn’t really done yet is a western. Hey, he could always make the western horror film! That’s what I want! That’s the next film I want to see Spielberg make!
